Blood Flow Restriction
KAATSU is a form of blood flow restriction (BFR) training developed by Dr. Yoshiaki Sato. The name KAATSU translate to "added pressure" in Japanese. During KAATSU training air bands are placed on the arm or legs proximal to the torso. Inflation of the air bands causes restriction of blood flow to the muscles performing low weight resistance workout. KAATSU blood flow moderation has been shown to cause increase of muscle mass and strength without overloading joints, muscles and tendons. KAATSU is safe and effective for use during rehabilitation for deficits related to arthritic pain, tendon and ligament repair, repetitive use injuries, general deconditioning, and sports rehab
