Primal Reflex Release Technique ™ (PRRT)

Primal Reflex Release Technique™ (PRRT) is a manual-therapy approach for the rapid assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal pain and movement dysfunction.

PRRT is based on the premise that over-stimulation of the body’s primal reflexes leads to formation of painful patterns occurring long after the triggering event has passed. This therapeutic intervention aims to create a ”shift” in the autonomic nervous system (ANS) by reducing the activity of its sympathetic component, thereby facilitating a return to a balanced, homeostatic state.

The body's nervous system is inherently equipped with primal reflexes such as startle, withdrawal, and protective joint responses, all designed for survival. Unfortunately, these reflexes often persist in a state of hyper-readiness long after the triggering event has passed. When this hyper-reactivity continues over time, it creates persistent pain patterns interfering with healing, and resisting therapeutic efforts to restore natural function.

This innovative treatment employs several various manual techniques designed to reset reflexes and release tension by applying pressure, joint compression, positional release, and tapping targeted reflex loops.

All the techniques facilitate rapid “neural reboot”, which resets the neural control over joints, muscles, and fascia to release joint restrictions, eliminate trigger points, and fascial restrictions , similar to how rebooting a computer resolves its issues.

Benefits of PRRT

  • reduces pain

  • increases joint range of motion

  • improves spontaneity of motion

  • decreases joint stiffness

  • reduces “muscle tightness” and muscle hypertonicity
